Week Commencing 27th May 2013 - A brief intermission

I mentioned in my last post that in the final run of last week my inside leg had started to hurt, with further research and a check with Dr. Wikipedia it looks like this was shin splints. I did two recovery runs this week, Tuesday and Thursday. The second one was abandoned after a mile, as the pain got too bad for me to reasonably try to run through it and I just had to walk slowly home.

As such I'm now taking a week of enforced rest, no running, jogging or even serious walking. I'm going to get some road shoes this week and build up from the beginning next week, though only if I'm fully pain free. Looking back at these posts my training has been incredibly inconsistent, emphasised by the week of the Horsham 10k (total 9.8 miles) followed by a 32 mile week. I've ignored signs of injury twice now and been stopped completely by it, but it's a mistake I won't make again.

In the mean time I hope the other contributors will pick up the slack for me, and in a weeks time I'll be healthy again and able to consistently build towards the Barns Green Half. Numbers below for posterity.
