As I'm not currently training for anything in particular, I decided to do two 5ks and a 10k again this week. The two 5ks were were along my normal running route, that I wrote about last week, whilst the 10k was the extension to the 5k route that was also mentioned last week.
The first run was on Tuesday morning, before work. The advantage of running early now it's summertime is that I can get back before the it gets too hot outside and I overheat. The run went well and I completed it in a good time, but I did, as with most of these runs, slow down towards the end as I travelled uphill
Distance (km): 5.02
Time (hh:mm:ss): 00:21:12
Pace (min/km): 4.15
For my second run, on Friday, I wanted to take it easier (not for any real reason, I was just feeling a bit lazy). Consequently this run was a couple of minutes slower than the first 5k of the week, but felt good.
Distance (km): 5.04
Time (hh:mm:ss): 00:23:37
Pace (min/km): 4.41
My last run of the week was on Sunday and was 10k in length. Once again I had decided beforehand that I would take it easier, but my internal pacing had other ideas. By half way I had been running for 20:22, which was a pb for my 5k time (still chasing that elusive sub 20 min 5k though...), so I decided to keep pushing for the remaining 5k. The second half was slightly slower than the first and took me 21:47, but I still beat my 10k pb with a time of 42:09, which I was pleased with.
Next week I plan on similar runs, and hopefully another new pb.
Distance (km): 10.02
Time (hh:mm:ss): 00:42:21
Pace (min/km): 4.13
