16 July 2013 - Continuing to build

Trying a few new things today. One of which was doing a different route. Instead of crossing over the road I turned almost back on myself and headed down a different path. The idea was to go along a flatter route as hills aggravate my leg slightly. This did not work out well, I was too busy focusing on where I was going to focus on my pace and heart rate and it prevented me settling down.

Along with the heat this meant my heart rate was regularly above where it should have been, and the pace was inconsistent. This made my calf ache a little, although not seriously and once it started that focussed me wonderfully. I got 3 miles done as planned, and within 5 minutes of finishing the inside of my leg felt fine.

I've also been heavily adapting the training plan, found HERE. Essentially the aim is to maintain the distance while reducing the intensity, in particular taking out speed work which is most likely to reduce the healing of the connective tissue. This means the hill sprints have gone, and Thursdays speed work has been reduced from 1k pace to 10k pace.

The stats:
Distance (miles): 2.93
Time (mm:ss): 27:32
Pace (mins/mile): 09:23
HR Average (bpm): 163

194 Miles to go...

Update:

I'm testing out sharing Google Earth links for the runs I do. This is a little convoluted at the moment. Currently the run goes from my watch to GPS master, then to Google Earth, then to Dropbox and finally here. If anyone wants to try it link is here:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/t1457iu29yskvfn/X6pzSLAuPH

To use the file you'll need google earth, available here:
http://www.google.co.uk/intl/en_uk/earth/index.html

If anyone tries it comments would be appreciated, as would ideas of how to share without dropbox.
