This was supposed to be another gentle run, but I did get a bit carried away at times. Although the average heart rate was were I was aiming there were fast and slow bits, and because of that the inside of my leg has ached a little over the last few days. My heart rate peaked at 185, a lot higher than where it was supposed to be and without the excuse of going uphill.
I know I need to be more disciplined with my running. I start with the best of intentions but just get so carried away, especially coming off a long gap like now. Unfortunately now is when I need to be most disciplined or I'll end up injured again. I've taken a mile off Tuesdays run to give myself a little more time to heal.
On a brighter note I went swimming afterwards and it went brilliantly. We dug a set of goggles out of the bottom of an old swim bag, and I felt a lot more relaxed throughout the session. I managed 4 and a bit lengths of freestyle with only short periods of rest (I had to include these so I didn't catch those in front). In addition I was able to do pairs of lengths for a lot longer. It was a shorter session than usual, but a really productive one.
