21 September 2013 - Last hard workout

This was originally planned to be eight miles at race pace but due to my week in Guernsey not being nearly as restful as planned, and with the time required to recruit hard work I decided it probably wasn't in my best interest. I'd just have to forgo the confidence I would have gained from a consistent period of work. As such it was cut down to five at race pace, with a miles warm up and warm down.

This went pretty much to plan. It was a little faster than I wanted for the race pace work averaging 7:02 min/mile. I knew I was going too fast, but I just went with it in an effort to compensate for the shortened distance. At the end of the five it wasn't unreasonably hard, and I feel ready to race.

It's a good job too, as this was my last hard workout before Barns Green next weekend. All that's left is a couple of short workouts during the week to allow recovery.
