Week of the 9th of September

This week once more followed my usual running pattern of two 3 mile runs during the week followed by a longer one at the weekend. For the first of these runs I decided to push it, and managed to run the first mile in under 6:30 and the second two both in under 7 minutes. This was the first time I'd run it in under 21 minutes in several months, so was feeling good.

Distance: 3.03 miles
Time: 20:36
Pace: 6:48 mins/mile


For the second of these I took it a bit easier, aiming for around race pace, which I was just under


Distance: 3.01 miles
Time: 22:20
Pace: 7:25 mins/mile


For my final run of the week I initially planned to go 10 miles. However I ran out far to fast, completing the first mile in 6:32, with the first three in 20:13, the fastest time I'd run 3 miles in quite a while. Consequently I decided to instead just run a 10k. I managed to keep the sub 7 minute pace up for 5 miles, but then I tired so dropped it back to 8 minute pace for the last mile. In the end I averaged a 7:02 pace which makes me confident that come the Brighton 10k in November, I should be on for a good time.
