As I haven’t written for a while (due to laziness mainly), I
have a bunch of runs spread over four weeks, so splitting this up by week seems
like the best cause of action.
In the week starting the 12th of August, I ran
three times. The first of these before was
before work (all my short midweek runs take place before work as the timings
work out better), and for some reason I can’t recall I decided to rock the boat
and go 4 miles, as opposed to my usual three.
This took me along my usual route of around Horsham Park, but extended
slightly. I’d started to get back into
the swing of running so managed this one at my ideal half marathon pace.
Distance: 3.88 miles
Time: 29:10
Pace: 7:30 mins/mile
My second run was a
three miler around the Park, and was, as most of these short runs are,
uneventful. However this time I ran the
opposite direction around the park, with the back straight being up hill, this
took my pace from being 7 minute miles, to 8, but it picked up again for the
final mile
Distance: 3.1 miles
Time: 23:31
Pace: 7:28 mins/mile
My final run of the
week was with the team. The plan (or at
least as I thought it) was to do 10k at 10:30 pace. As this is quite a bit slower than I’d have
gone myself I found it easy going and enjoying chatting on the way round. After 10k wed managed to maintain this pace,
and as I thought the others were stopping, I picked up the pace and did two
7:30 miles. I then had some trouble
locating them as the others were running 12k, but I managed to find them in the
end. This was the furthest I’d run in a
long time, which was pleasing with the Richmond half fast approaching, though the
truer test comes next week when I try it again at race pace.
Distance: 8.0 miles
Time: 1:18:37
Pace: 9:48 mins/mile
