Week of 19th August- The one with lots of runs

This week I ran loads, and including my long team run the Sunday before, I ran 7 out of 8 days.  The reason for this was that I went running with Sarah on my days off, to help get here back on track for the Brighton 10k.  My first run of the week was on Monday, was run with Sarah in the evening.  The plan was to run 5k.  Unfortunately Sarah pulled up a quarter mile before the end.  The route we took was the same I always run

Distance: 2.73 miles
Time: 31:05
Pace: 11:22 min/mile

My next run was by myself on Tuesday morning and was the fastest 5k I’d run in a while, getting my pace down to almost 7 minute miles.

Distance: 3.01 miles
Time: 21:20
Pace: 7:05 min/mile

My third run was on Wednesday, in the evening with Sarah.  The plan this time was to make sure we ran the 5k, pace wasn’t a concern.  Consequently we managed to go the whole distance.

Distance: 3.12 miles
Time: 36:27
Pace: 11:40 min/mile

Thursday was my rest day for the week, so I was back running on Friday.  This was another morning run done at half marathon pace.

Distance: 3.12 miles
Time: 23:13
Pace: 7:26 min/mile

My final run with Sarah this week came on Saturday and the plan was the same as before, to just do the distance.

Distance: 3.11 miles
Time: 38:20
Pace: 12:18 min/mile

My final run of the week was the first longish run at race pace I was attempting.  To go 8 miles in about an hour.  As I hadn’t run this far on my own since moving, I didn’t really have a course, so just ended up running around the streets, which was find as I find losing myself distracts me.  The run itself went well.  I was a couple of minutes over my target, but was pleased nonetheless.  Also I managed to run fairly consistently which was also good.  I felt like I could have run a bit further also, which is always a good feeling at the end of a long run and lifted my confidence for my upcoming half marathon.

Distance: 8.01 miles
Time: 1:02:24
Pace: 7:47 min/mile
