After a break of nearly 6 weeks (bought about as I was on holiday,
moving, had a broken shower and laziness), I began to run again. News since then is that due to a work trip, I
can no longer run in the Barns Green half, which was disappointing. However, in its place I have entered the
Richmond running festival half marathon, which takes place the week
before.
My first run was on the 31 of July, and reminded me why it’s not a good
idea to take a break from running; I found it hard going (not helped by the hot
weather). Having just moved house I
needed to find a new route on which to run.
The route I chose for this run was not great, being hillier than I would
have liked. However I managed to
complete the two miles I set out to in a decent time.
Distance: 2.0 miles
Time: 13:25
Pace: 6:38min/mile
My second run was on the 3rd of August, but as my nike+ was
playing up, I have no record of it. From
what I can remember I ran 5km in ~24mins, which is significantly down on my
pre-break times, but not too disappointing.
I ran a new route this time, around Horsham Park, which was much flatter
and nicer to run.
My final run of this update was on the 9th of August. Once more I ran 5km around the park, and was
starting to get back into my old rhythm, if not my old pace yet.
Distance: 3.1 miles
Time: 22:49
Pace: 7:18min/mile
