Today we went for our first team outing it quite some time, but now
sporting our natty new running tops. The
aim was to run 10k with a pace of 10:30mins per mile. I was a bit wary of the distance before
starting as I hadn’t run further than 3 miles in the previous couple of months,
but figured it should be alright as the pace was going to be a lot slower than
I was used to.
We all met up and began to run down the downs link. Nick started off pace making, which he said
was somewhat erratic, though I didn’t notice much. As I had suspected the 10:30 pace was easily achievable,
and I felt like I could have gone a lot further than 10k. The run is self was enjoyable as I was able
to catch up, whilst not pushing myself to hard.
Towards the end, Tom’s and my GPS had got out of sync, so I ran back on
myself to make up the distance. For this
last kilometre I picked up the pace to what I had been doing on the last few
runs, which felt like a good way to end.
Afterwards I had to cycle ~3/4 miles home, which I was pleased to say
was no more difficult than when I have done so without a run beforehand.
Distance: 6.4 miles
Time: 1:06:49
Pace: 10:25mins/mile
